“Evaluating Ulster County’s Green Infrastructure Landscape”
View the powerpoint presentation from the 3.28.13 open house event at SUNY Ulster by clicking here
Green infrastructure are the natural landscape features such as forests, wetlands and streams, or agricultural soils that provide clean air, clean water, wildlife habitat, outdoor recreation and food or forestry. Participants at the event learned about Ulster County’s natural assets: what they are, where they are and how can their conservation can create vibrant environments and economies. An interactive session followed where participants provided input and local knowledge on the various ‘themed’ maps that were developed and can be seen in the powerpoint presentation.
This project is sponsored by the Ulster County Planning and Dept of Environment, the Green Infrastructure Center and the NYS DEC, and funded by U.S Environmental Protection Agency, under a contract to the Cadmus Group.

When I tried to fill out your form about our event, it would not let me. Therefore, I’m sending the information this way:
A BioBlitz, sponsored by the Hurley CAC, will be held on Saturday, September 8. It will be a free competition for those five and older – young children accompanied by an adult – to identify the areas’s plants and animals. Registration will be at 10 a.m. at the Hurley Town Hall, 10 Wamsley Place, where participants will receive directions to the nearby location. Species will be collected at the site from 10:30 to 2 and samples will be identified and tallied by experts at Town Hall from 2-4. Wear clothing and footwear suitable for off-trail exploring and wet conditions. For more information, check the Hurley web site (townofhurley.org).
